From the factory floor to the catwalk, from Shanghai to Burnley, World Factory weaves together stories of people connected by the global textile industry. Featuring stunning video and a powerful score, the show gives audiences a first-hand experience of the sharp end of fast fashion.
Pushing on our awareness of mass production and global capitalism, METIS invite you to play a provocative game. Which card will you draw? Will you be an ethical factory owner or will profits always come first? In the rag trade, can anyone ever really win?
For three days only World Factory is being shown in the atmospheric, now-derelict Brierfield Mill, an ex-textile factory that closed in 2010, which played a vital part in Britain’s own textile history.
The tour of World Factory is produced by Artsadmin. World Factory was originally made as a co-production with the Young Vic, New Wolsey Theatre and Company of Angels.
