Listen Up saw artists Caelan Salmon and Tom Washington explore the social and cultural landscape of Blackburn through a series of roadshow style, sonic pop ups in communities living close to the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Participants joined them to tell a story, reminisce, share what they are passionate about, show them their favourite trainers or grandma’s recipe, bring along their best record or family photo. From slam poetry to soundscapes, people expressed Blackburn through a multitude of unique and exciting sound explorations.
The recordings that Caelen & Tom produced with collaborators and members of the local community are all available on our MixCloud page, and were featured as part of our DRIFT Audio Exhibition in Blackburn.
