A free monthly activity as part of our Making The Slow Way Super project.
Join artist Ian Halawi for a series of monthly creative canalside walks from different locations across Pennine Lancashire. The walks will provide an opportunity to slow down, appreciate our blue and green spaces, and explore local heritage through the seasons along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
Since their introduction and domestication to the UK in 2500 BC, horses have had an impact on British culture, shaping the landscape and influencing art. These walks will follow the hoof steps of these animals through streets and towpaths of Pennine Lancashire to our urban green spaces and explore the curious and intriguing history of the folk culture surrounding them, including joining in the making of Lancashires first hobby horse in over 50 years.
Walks will take place on the second Wednesday of each month, starting at different locations across Pennine Lancashire. Walks will typically be a gentle stroll for up to 1 ½ hours and no further than 2 miles in distance.
Recommend that people also bring a flask if they’d like a hot drink. But refreshments and/or lunch will be provided.
