Explore food politics, heritage, textiles and more at our drop-in ‘classes’ or relax in our pop-up library space with a brew.
THURSDAY 7TH AUGUST, 2-4PM – WHO OWNS? HERITAGE & COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP
Explore heritage, space and land through radical conversation with Ben Pearson, Paul Kelly and guest poet Ajaz Qureshi. Who owns the places and spaces we animate, and how might they be different if communities take ownership?
THURSDAY 14TH AUGUST, 5-7PM – TASTE OF TRANSFORMATION
Join us for the Taste of Transformation Summer School: an alternative school of food politics. Expect thought-provoking conversation and shared learning. We’ll reflect on what we’ve discovered so far and explore the many meanings of ‘growing’: from practical food production to personal, social, and political growth. This month’s theme, from the Food Nelson manifesto: ‘We will remove barriers to growing and accessing locally grown food’.
THURSDAY 21ST AUGUST, 2-4PM – HAND EMBROIDERY ON TEXTILES
Help to design and personalise your own table coverings with hand embroidered napkins and tablecloths, you will be shown different sewing stitches and techniques and learn about the British Textile Biennial and what exciting events and activities will be happening across East Lancashire in October.
THURSDAY 28TH AUG, 2-4PM – BOOK CLUB & BREW
Bring along a book you’d like to share and talk about with others, from fiction to fact, local history to recipes, art to poetry there’s no rules, browse our pop up library or just join us for a brew!
