A lot of our activity couldn’t happen without our brilliant volunteers working behind the scenes and helping to make events happen across East Lancashire!
We’re currently looking for volunteers to get involved various Super Slow Way projects, as well as our partners event, the British Textile Biennial. Whether you can give a couple of hours or a few days your time makes a huge difference and in return hopefully you’ll gain new skills and get to know new people. If you’d like to know more fill in our volunteers form here, or contact Uzma Raziq on uzma@superslowway.org.uk
Below is a list of current volunteering opportunities at The Super Slow Way:
The Super Slow Way Cafe at Clayton Community Centre
We are looking for two volunteers to support the Super Slow Way Cafe at Clayton Community Centre, and the activities that happen each week.
This will be from 10am – 1.30pm every Wednesday. We can pay travel expenses and provide snacks!
You will be located in a cafe and creative workshop space welcoming guests, answering questions, supporting the artists workshops and collecting feedback from visitors, which will develop your communication skills. It is also a great opportunity for anyone interested in gaining more experience of delivering creative sessions and to contribute to the content of our creative programme. We are happy for volunteers to attend for the full session or just an hour or so.

The Exbury Egg – Custodian Role
We have a unique opportunity for someone to look after The Exbury Egg, which is currently located at Finsley Gate Wharf in Burnley. The role would involve opening up/closing The Egg, welcoming visitors and gathering monitoring postcards. We are ideally looking for people who are confident working alone and interacting with the public.
During this time, we encourage volunteers to use the space themselves to work on any of their own creative /environmental practice. There is no electricity in The Egg but there is a wood burning stove and access to brewing up facilities. There is also at cafe and toilets on site. The times and duration of volunteering is flexible and can be adapted to suit your other commitments. The Wharf is open from 11am everyday until 7pm (closed Tuesdays) and we would like The Egg to be open for between 2 to 4 hours.
