We’re looking for proposals for two artist residencies in Burnley and Hyndburn over the spring and summer of 2023!
Over the spring and summer of 2022 we invited residents to join us on ‘The Super Slow Way’ the 20 mile stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal from Blackburn to Pendle. Over those few months a series of projects and events gave residents living along the canal the opportunity to get involved, try something new and think about how the canal, and the many unused spaces alongside it could become a great space for us all to use and share.
In 2023 and beyond, we are continuing to work towards this vision in a series of projects along the canal – as part of this activity, we are developing community spaces along the canal stretch from Blackburn to Pendle in collaboration with local organisations and community groups where paddle sports, walking, cycling, eating and growing, and creative activity can take place.
We’re keen for ideas to be co-produced with the groups identified, so we are seeking proposals that could be developed collaboratively over time, allow for experimentation, encourage individuals to engage with the canal, environment and surrounding landscapes, and animate spaces that create a long-term legacy.
