The Spinning and Weaving School, a collaborative project between the British Textile Biennial and ourselves will begin with a demo at the National Festival of Making on Saturday 8th July, with the official launch of the School following the week after.
Participants will be taught by The Forest of Bowland Guild of Spinners, Dyers and Weavers to spin flax, cotton and potentially wool on spinning wheels and charkhas. The sessions will be drop in with limited availability due to equipment. We are aiming to teach people these skills and spin yarn that will create the final Kurta, which will be shown as part of the 2023 British Textile Biennial, but also to give people the opportunity to just come down, have have a go at spinning, try something new and meet people!
