We are looking for a part time project co-ordinator to set up and run the Ripple Effect project over the next two years.
The ‘Ripple Effect’ is a project developed by the local community in Nelson (Pendle) supported by Super Slow Way and local partners, funded by the National Lottery Communities fund for the next two years.
The canal corridor – once a hive of industry – is now rich in unused spaces. Local people want to reinvigorate this area as a community hub, situated in half acre of space radiating out from the canal in Nelson.The hub will be a place for the community to come together; with a particular focus on engaging local young people in activities, The hub will take the form of a ‘market’ of shipping containers, other reclaimed structures and raised beds, designed by the community with an artist/designer. Each container will perform a specific function.
The Ripple Effect forms part of a range of projects taking place in Pendle over the next few years as part of This is Nelson, the cultural strand of the Nelson Town Deal funding and The Super Slow Way.
We are now looking for a part time project co-ordinator to set up and run the Ripple Effect project over the next two years. Supported by The Super Slow Way and In-Situ teams, the successful applicant will have good working knowledge of Nelson and Brierfield and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of individuals, organisations and communities in the local area.

2/3 days per week worked flexibly with some weekend and evening work required. This role is offered on a freelance basis.

The project co-ordinator will lead on the development of the Ripple Effect project, working with local partners This is Nelson and Super Slow Way to set up the practical aspects of the site and then organising and managing activities on the site over the course of the project.
Including:
Overseeing site works and preparation of site, liaising with the council, the landowner.
Working closely with the advisory group and Super Slow Way to commission structures.
Working closely with the advisory group to plan and implement a programme of activity to appeal to the communities of Nelson and Brierfield.
Manage delivery of activities with local partners and residents
Work with Super Slow Way to recruit participants for activities and events.
Work with Super Slow Way and an independent evaluator to monitor all activity on the site
Person Spec – Essential
Proactive and self sufficient
Knowledge of the local area
Ability to engage all sections of the community and local organisations in realisation and delivery
Hands on practical project management skills
Event management experience – planning workshops and events
